What is a Flooring / Tile?

Accurate tile or flooring calculation prevents the two most frustrating scenarios in home improvement: running short of tiles mid-installation (where matching tiles from a new batch may have slight color differences) or over-buying and wasting money. The standard approach includes a 10% waste factor to account for cuts around edges, corners, and obstacles, plus breakage during installation. This calculator works for all types of floor coverings — ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, marble, wooden planks, and vinyl flooring.

How to Use This Calculator

Enter the room length and width in meters. Enter the tile or plank size — for square tiles, enter one side measurement; most tiles in Pakistan are 60×60cm (enter 0.6) or 30×30cm (enter 0.3). Click Calculate to see the exact tile count with 10% waste included, the floor area, individual tile area, and an approximate box quantity based on 5 tiles per box.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Start tile installation from the center of the room to ensure symmetrical cuts at all walls.
  • Buy all tiles from the same lot number — lot numbers are printed on the box and ensure consistent color matching.
  • Add 15% waste instead of 10% for diagonal or herringbone patterns which produce more offcuts.
  • Store extra tiles from the same batch for future repairs — cracked or chipped tiles are very difficult to match later.
  • For outdoor areas, use frost-resistant tiles rated R10 or higher for slip resistance and weather durability.

Who Uses This Calculator?

Homeowners renovating bathrooms, kitchens, or living rooms. Contractors preparing material estimates for flooring projects. Interior designers planning floor layouts and material quantities. Property developers calculating finishing material costs. Anyone wanting to buy exactly the right amount without wasting money.
